This is one of several Fun Pix resulting from my experiences with Habitat For Humanity. |
Kitty's Cafe Menu Board |
This is from Kitty's Cafe, another hole in the wall in the Habitat neighborhood with great food cheap. |
(I learned about Kitty's when I worked for YouthBuild, which is located in the Habitat warehouse. Later, if I can find several free hours, I'll tell you about my extraordinary YouthBuild experience.) The guy who runs the front office, Larry, a purebred American, remembers everyone's name after about three visits. The most typical order, because so many customers are regulars, is "The usual." When I told Larry I wanted to photograph his sign he let me behind the counter and even moved some stuff out of the way for me, but he never once asked me why I wanted to.

Update of September 3, 2009: Kitty's Cafe changed hands a
few years ago, and the new front man, Charlie, who always acts surprised when
I tip him because most of his customers don't, has his own ideas
about signage. (Other odd uses of the apostrophe can be found here.) |
