This photo is of the spine of volume 8 of the Encyclopędia Britannica, from a set I bought in 1989. It shows that the contents
of this volume range from the word Menage to the word Ottawa.
I don't now about you, but I like to think that some fun-loving someone somewhere in charge jiggered the pages of volumes 7 or 8 or 9 so that these two exact words
would end up on the spine for all to see. Update of April 10, 2017: Apparently I got my wish. The screen shot below is from Amazon's depiction of the bottom of page 96 of a book titled Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life by Amy Krouse Rosenthal. This was brought to my attention by someone who not only read the book but also read my page about Menage Ottawa (and took the time to write). What are the chances? |
