Update of September 8, 2007: Here's another sign in a bathroom, this one
in the Country Cupboard restaurant in Jamesport, Missouri, which is Amish country.
(I took this photo while on a road trip with my friend, Mark Manning, about whom
you can read more here. Also, the Amish are
idiots.) The sign shouldn't
be in all initial caps, and I wish "Please Don't" hadn't been underlined.
And it grossly violates my rules about ellipses and bangs.
But especially since the phrase "Of Any Kind" was included and even specially underlined,
there can be no doubt that the signwriter wants no paper of any kind whatsoever,
no matter what type of paper it is, no matter what it's used for, no matter how
many plies it has or whether it's available in a roll of little squares, to be
put in the stool.
Which violates
my rules about hygiene. |
