SATELLITE TRACKING

This Web page tracks about 500 of the satellites we humans have launched into orbit around the Earth.  It tracks them in real time, meaning you can see where each one is at any moment.

(Some of those satellites take remarkably useful photographs, such as the one HERE showing where my neighbor used to live right up until the day before he moved a couple years ago.)

You need Java on your computer to see the real-time display.  If a Java security warning box pops up on your screen, you may safely click "Grant this session" or "Grant always."

It takes awhile to learn all the ways you can control what you see, so I recommend you play with all the options available to you.  If you're anything like me, after a few minutes you'll get more and more fascinated, and I recommend you set out a good half hour for the full experience.

Yes, I'm sure I'm anything like you.  Take me THERE.
