Weather and traffic

Welcome to the home page of the Ashley Park Homes Association Web site.  Ashley Park is a subdivision -- a neighborhood, really -- of 144 single-family dwellings located in the cities of Lenexa, and Shawnee, Kansas.

On the pages of this Web site are all sorts of information for Ashley Park residents that we -- your board and committee members -- hope you'll find useful or interesting or even entertaining.  We hope that the more you look around, the more you'll come to appreciate the value we're providing to your household for less than 50 cents a year.

  • If you're a newcomer to Ashley Park you will find a lot of what you need to know on the Local Information page.  You can catch up with previous monthly association announcements on the Newsletters page.  For getting situated see the Maps page.

  • If you're a long-time Ashley Park resident, we hope you come to rely on this site not just as a repository of useful long-term information (e.g., the Dues and Rules page) but also as your first notice of news, events and useful information having to do with Ashley Park (see the rest of this home page and the Events page).

  • And whether you've lived in Ashley Park a day or a decade, please feel free to get in touch with your board and committee members from the Contact Us page.

Navigation tips:

Everywhere on this Web site -- over 75 pages so far -- if you hover over a link and the background does change (like this), you'll be taken to a location inside this site, i.e., you'll still be safe and sound within the ashleyparkhomes.org domain.

If the background does not change (like this), you'll be taken outside the site, where who knows what kind of mischief you might get into.

You can also search the Ashley Park Web site from the box at the upper left of this Home page.  However, you cannot search the newsletters, because they are merely pictures, not real text.

This is your Web site, dear Ashley Park resident, and you may contribute to its success merely by offering your ideas and suggestions on how to improve it.  For example, is there some information -- perhaps answers to questions you have about Ashley Park -- you'd like to see that we haven't included?  If so, .  If you want to know, many of your neighbors probably do too.

Submissions from writers and photographers wanted.  Do you have any sort of submission having to do with Ashley Park for the Web site?  Unlike the printed newsletter, which obviously has limited space, your Web site's space is effectively infinite.

What that means is that if you are any sort of writer whatsoever and want to submit an article for your neighbors to read, it can be published here.

And if you are any sort of photographer whatsoever and you have or wish to take images of, in or about Ashley Park that might inform or entertain the rest of us, please do send them in.

  • If the images are in digital form, just attach the files to an e-mail in the usual way.
  • If you have only prints, they can be scanned and returned to you.

No matter what, you should feel free to write your friendly webmaster .

News

New Welcome Committee Chair Janet Filip has taken on the responsibilities of welcoming new neighbors to Ashley Park.  Because neither Janet nor the association is formally notified in any way of the arrival of new residents, we must rely on you, our Ashley Park neighbors, to let us know when someone moves in.

If you know of a new resident, please get in touch with Janet or let the newcomers know how they can reach her.  Call her at 913-268-7498 or write her .

Board positions filled

One still open

The Ashley Park board positions of and have been been filled, and you should feel free to thank those two neighbors of yours for their committment to all of us.

Update of November 2005 -- However, we also need an Ashley Park resident to volunteer for one of the two positions of Member-at-Large.

Without sufficient volunteer effort by Ashley Park residents, we will have to resort to hiring a management company, which we estimate will cost $4,500 per year.  Perhaps worse yet, it will place control of the association in the hands of strangers.

To find out how you can volunteer for the open position of Member-at-Large, write .

This is the home page.  The six other main pages of the Ashley Park Web site, listed at the top and bottom of each page, are as follows:

  • Local Information -- Lots of facts and places we hope you find useful (or maybe just interesting), some with driving directions, in these six categories: Emergencies, Government, Utilities, Schools, Libraries, Miscellaneous.
  • Events -- Information about events to come and maybe some reviews of ones that already did, with photos.
  • Newsletters -- The Ashley Park newsletter can now be viewed online.  As time permits we'll be adding more of the older ones, which we hope will be of use especially to you newer residents.  As of now you can read almost all the newsletters from November 2002 to the present.
  • Dues and Rules -- Sensible rules all residents must follow
  • Maps -- Online maps of the area, aerial photographs, and an interactive map showing your guests how to get to your address from anywhere by car.
  • Contact Us -- Which of your Ashley Park neighbors to talk to about what.
