Ashley Park -- Events

Block Party -- August 20, 2005	The Ashley Park block party was held on Saturday, August 20th, and a heck of a good time was had by all. Easter Egg Hunt	Ashley Park sponsors and operates an Easter Egg Hunt every year around, well, Easter, which in 2006 will be Sunday, April 16th. Check the newsletter and this very Web site for an announcement as to exactly where and when the 2006 edition will take place. The 2005 Easter Egg Hunt was held on Saturday, March 26th. Much fun was had by both hiders and seekers, and many eggs were hunted down and captured. See the April 2005 newsletter for more information.
Annual Members' Meeting	The annual board meeting to which all members are especially invited was held in 2005 on May 2nd at the Lackman Library. Watch the newsletter and this Web site for information on the time and place of the special annual board meeting for 2006.
Neighborhood Garage Sale	Once a year, usually in late Spring, Ashley Park has a three-day-long Neighborhood Garage Sale. On these days you may have a garage sale, and it turns out if we all have them on the same weekend, we attract more buyers. Banners announcing the event will be posted at the two main entrances. Look for an announcement in the newsletter or this Web site as to when the 2006 Garage Sale will take place. Also, due to a question that arose recently, your board has passed a motion to permit the sale of actual garages, but you might want to go here first.
Big Trash Day	Once a year Lenexa and Shawnee have a Big Trash Day, which is when certain large items you want to get rid of -- items the trash company won't normally pick up -- will be disposed of for free. Also, apparently certain people know what day it is each year and cruise the streets ahead of the city crews and cherry-pick. In fact, Lenexa's public works department actually counts on a certain percent of scavenging in setting their schedule. Wine-Tasting Party	The wine-tasting party scheduled for June 18, 2005, has been postponed. The board and social committee members will review new dates, times and locations later in the year. Still, if you would like to open your home to such a party, please do write .
